French Sept manufacturing PMI 56.0 vs 56.2 in Aug; consensus was 55.6

The French manufacturing sector purchasing managers' index fell to a seasonally adjusted 56.0 in September from 56.2 in August, according to market sources. Economists polled by AFX News had forecast a larger fall to 55.6. A reading above 50 indicates that the manufacturing sector is generally expanding, while a reading below 50 suggests it is generally contracting. The index is based on a questionnaire sent to purchasing managers in around 450 companies by purchasing managers' association CDAF.
