Swiss Sept CPI down 0.2 pct vs Aug, up 0.8 pct yr-on-yr
Swiss inflation was down 0.2 pct in September from August, as expected, with the consumer price index (CPI) reaching 100.3 points, the Swiss statistics office said. The statistics office said the monthly CPI decline was mainly due to lower petrol and fuel oil prices. The index rose by 0.8 pct year-on-year, compared to a 1.5 pct rise last month, also in line with economists' forecasts. Average economist forecasts were for monthly CPI somewhere between a decline of 0.3 pct and an unchanged index level, with yearly inflation forecast to rise by 0.7-1.1 pct.
