UK construction orders 10 pct higher in year to Aug

Construction orders in the UK were up 10 pct in the year to August from the previous year, government figures showed today. The Department of Trade and Industry also revealed that orders in the three months to August were 10 pct higher on the year before. On a quarterly basis, orders were unchanged, with increases in private housing and public non-housing orders being offset by decreases in public housing, infrastructure, private industrial and private commercial sectors.
