Euro Zone trade surplus posts 1.5 B Eur in July
The trade balance of the European Monetary Union remained on surplus in July bi 1.5 billion Euro, although substantially below than July 2005 according to data released by Eurostat, the European Statistics Office.
Total exports from the 12 countries part taking on the monetary union, surpassed the exports by 1.5 billion Euro, a surplus sharply lower than the 7.4 billion difference registered in July last year. The main reason of this difference lays in the huge increase of energy prices.
Exports from the region fell 2.2% from June on a seasonally adjusted basis, while exports rose 1.8%. At the same time Eurostat revised June“s trade surplus to 1.5 billion euro, instead of the initially reported 2.0 billion surplus.
