August CPI, up 0.2% core CPI also 0.2% higher

Consumer price index has risen by 0.2% in August from the previous month, according to a report published by the U.S. Department of Labor.

This increment, half of last month´s 0.4% rise, in prices did meet the analysts expectations due to the more modest increment of energy prices. Which grew only 0.3% after having grown 2.9% in July. Food prices grew 0.2%.

Excluding food and energy costs, CPI rose 0.2%, this is the second consecutive month to register growth on core CPI, according to the Commerce Department. The year on year index grew 2.8%.
